Chip, Me, and Disciples of Christ in Community
By Lynne Coates
When I first came to Emmanuel in 1988, Chip was after me to make my Cursillo and later to join Disciples of Christ in
Community DOCC. I finally gave in and did both. It was hard to say no to Chip.

After experiencing Basic DOCC, the next year I signed up for DOCC II, again as a participant. Chip called to say they needed
faciltators in DOCC II and would I take on this responsibility. I told her that I had not experienced DOCC II as a participant, so
how could I be a facilitator? I felt a little like Alice at the Mad Hatter's tea party when she was asked if she wanted more tea,
and she hadn't had the first cup.

Chip said, "Oh, you'll be fine." And I was. It was hard to say no to Chip. I went on to be a facilitator then and many times after
that, as well as a presenter three times. I have yet to experience DOCC II as a participant.

Chip spread her sunshine everywhere. Her signature giggle was like music. Her emerging skill at juggling (last summer at
the Parish Retreat with scarves) was a wonder to behold.

The angels are laughing and dancing and maybe juggling, and no one in heaven is saying no to Chip.
